Redwire

U.S.-based drone and unmanned-systems company "Redwire" operates a major manufacturing and R&D hub in Riga, Latvia, investing around EUR 8 M in a new 10,000 m² facility that doubles its production capacity and enhances its global supply capabilities after acquiring Edge Autonomy. In 2025, the production facility in Riga expanded, which significantly increased the company’s footprint in Europe.

Employing over 270 skilled specialists, the company focuses on developing advanced unmanned aerial systems for defence, surveillance, and environmental monitoring. Its expansion reinforces Latvia’s role as a regional centre for aerospace innovation, high-tech exports, and sustainable industrial growth.

"Edge Autonomy has been operating in Latvia for over 15 years and is committed to contine their work in this region. Latvia is a strategically important location for us, not only because Latvia has long been a reliable partner, but also due to its proximity to many of our clients and programmes. I’m always impressed by the highly skilled technical workforce in Latvia and the cutting edge technologies coming out of this region. We look forward to continued growth,” said Steve Adlich, CEO of Edge Autonomy.

Edge Autonomy is headquartered in the United States and has production and flight operations centres both in Latvia and the US. The company is one of the global leaders in unmanned systems technology, providing innovative solutions to governments, businesses, and academic clients in nearly 80 countries. It cooperates with the Latvian National Armed Forces closely, and its drones are also being used in support of Ukraine.
