GoCardless

GoCardless — a global fintech leader in bank payments — is expanding its presence in Latvia by establishing its largest business centre in the European Union in Riga, reinforcing the city’s growing reputation as a vibrant hub for technology, innovation, and international business services.

In April 2024, GoCardless opened its new Eiropean headquaters in Riga - a purpose-built office space located in Norviza Plaza, one of the city’s premier Class A business centres. This expansion follows the company’s 2022 acquisition of Nordigen, a Latvian open-banking start-up, which catalysed the growth of GoCardless’ regional capabilities and long-term commitment to the Latvian market.

GoCardless chose Riga for its highly educated, multilingual workforce and strategic position within the European Union — factors that align with the company’s ambition to build a truly global bank-payments network. Since entering the Latvian market, the firm has more than doubled its local team and taken on significant ownership of key operational and technological infrastructure.

Today, GoCardless processes payments for over 85,000 businesses worldwide, with annual volumes exceeding USD 35 billion and connectivity to more than 2,300 banks across 31 countries — a testament to its scale and the global relevance of its Riga hub.
