The Latvian information technology company TestDevLab has opened its fourth international office in Malaga, Spain. The new office has a team of 12 employees.
Ervins Grīnfelds, co-founder of TestDevLab, says that several employees from Spain have been working remotely for the company for many years, which allowed the management team to get to know the local working culture and business environment. In order to provide a comfortable working environment for its employees and to develop its business in the country, the company took the strategic decision to open an office in Spain.
“There are many companies in Spain that can benefit from our software quality assurance services and products, and I expect that our local presence will enable us to establish successful partnerships with them,” says Mr Grīnfelds.
The company also plans to collaborate with the local information technology community at events, as well as to contribute to educating students in software development and testing. “Our employees from other countries are also happy about the opening of an office in Spain, as they can now benefit from the opportunity to work from sunny Spain,” he adds.
500 staff working from ten offices and remotely
TestDevLab employs more than 500 people from Latvia, as well as remotely from Albania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Romania, Spain, Turkey and other countries.
The company has six offices in Latvia – in Liepāja, Ventspils, Riga, Jelgava, Valmiera and Daugavpils. In early 2022, the company opened its first international office in Skopje, the capital of Northern Macedonia. In the autumn, TestDevLab opened an office in Tartu, Estonia, and in November the company officially opened an office in Vilnius, Lithuania, Labs of Latvia reported.
Testing both battery consumption and video communication tools
TestDevLab offers software testing services, such as video and audio software testing and battery consumption testing. The company combines solutions available on the market with artificial intelligence algorithms developed in-house.
TestDevLab uses more than 4000 real devices – phones, tablets and TVs – to test the software. The team runs nearly 20 000 different manual tests a day. About 1000 of them are tests in audio and video software testing projects.
TestDevLab has also developed Loadero, a load testing solution that can simulate what happens to a customer’s website when, for example, 50 000 users from all over the world connect to it – from different devices, with different network parameters, etc. As demand for this service grew, the company decided to spin it off and create a separate company. This team is currently 11 employees large. Andrejs Frišfelds, co-founder of TestDevLab, shares that Loadero’s turnover in 2021 was EUR 420 000.
Background working for Skype
The founders of TestDevLab, Andrejs Frišfelds and Ervins Grīnfelds, gained experience working for the Estonian information technology company Skype. They worked at the company’s Tallinn and Stockholm offices at a time when Skype’s user base rapidly grew from 10 to 500 million. It was there that they came up with the idea for their own software testing company.
In 2011, they founded TestDevLab without any external investment. The company is dedicated to providing software testing services and developing testing products. The company’s clients range from startups to international giants, such as Microsoft, Skype, Orange, Telefonica, and Airbnb. The company’s testing software is used by more than 4.5 billion people worldwide.
