Just like various platforms offer subscriptions to music or films for a small monthly fee, Stopify, an initiative created in Latvia, offers the possibility to subscribe to support Ukraine.
Like other subscription services, Stopify offers different paid plans. Currently, Stopify Light is available for 6.99 euros and Stopify Regular for 14.99 euros per month. There is also the option to donate an amount of your choice each month.
“Over these months we have become accustomed to the news about what is happening in Ukraine. The enthusiasm for donations and aid in society has noticeably diminished since the spring even though support for Ukrainians is now more important than ever,” says Māris Upenieks, the initiator of Stopify.
When thinking how to encourage people to donate, the volunteers came up with the idea of offering a subscription service to support Ukraine. Stopify is a service that allows you to “stream” a small monthly donation to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The project has been implemented by volunteers together with partners. The donation will be received by ziedot.lv, and they will make sure that the funds raised become tangible aid for the soldiers. The Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia will regularly inform about the most pressing needs of the Armed Forces and will help to prepare reports on what has been done.
“Stopify is starting in Latvia, but we will do our best to get it noticed globally,” says Upenieks.
