Second fastest growing company in Europe opens office in Riga

Lithuanian health tech startup Kilo Health has opened an office in Latvia. The company now has outposts in the Lithuanian cities of Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda, as well as in Berlin, Kyiv and Riga.

Kilo Health’s Riga office is in the Teikums co-working space. “As our company values a shared culture and atmosphere, we want our colleagues working from other European cities to feel really good too. Being in a co-working space also gives us the opportunity to get to know local talent and partners from different fields. We see a lot of potential to attract new team members from Latvia,” stated Ilona Bernotaitė, HR Manager at Kilo Health.

Currently, the company employs five Latvian team members, but Kilo Health expects this number to grow. One of the Latvian colleagues, Toms Zālmanis, who is the marketing manager for Kilo Health’s Klinio product for diabetics, points out that although the neighbouring countries are similar in many ways, differences do exist. “Although the Lithuanian and Latvian markets are very similar, I see differences in the labour market. I think it is much easier to find employees with international experience in Lithuania than in Latvia, because there are more highly successful startups in Lithuania. Generally speaking, Lithuanians are often more self-confident than Latvians, so the expansion of Kilo Health is a great opportunity to be inspired and to take advantage of the unfilled job market,” says T. Zālmanis.

On the market for almost ten years

Kilo Health dates back to 2013, when the company launched its first product. At the time, it employed seven people, but the company has now grown to more than 600 employees. Until now, Kilo Health has developed 15 products used by more than four million people. Most of its customers are from the USA.

“We focus on producing innovations in the healthcare industry by creating affordable solutions for chronic disease management. The number of people who use our products is growing every day. This serves as a reminder that we are on the right side of change,” said Ms Bernotaitė.

In 2021, Deloitte recognised Kilo Health as the second fastest growing company in Central Europe. Kilo Health was also ranked as the second fastest growing company in Europe in the FT1000.

Ready to invest in startups from Latvia

Kilo Health wishes to collaborate with Latvian entrepreneurs, offering several opportunities – to develop ideas within the company or to become a colleague and take charge of one of the areas of business. The company is also ready to invest in Latvian health tech startups.

“We are an international company with offices in several European countries, so we do not want to limit ourselves to one specific country,” said I. Bernotaitė.
