Printify: Riga Startup of the Year

For the first time, Riga’s best companies have been honored at the Rīgas dālderis ’21 (Riga Thaler ’21) event. The winners are Printify, Latvijas Mobilais telefons, SEB Global Services Riga and Swisscom.

Four companies were awarded prizes under the new initiative Rīgas dālderis ’21.

  • The Riga Startup of the Year award went to Printify, a local custom printing startup. The Latvian Startup Association was involved in the selection process for this nomination. Printify raised 50 million US dollars in the Series A round, Labs of Latvia wrote.
  • Swisscom was honored as Riga’s Newcomer of the Year. The nominations for this category were made in cooperation with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia. Last year, Swiss telecoms and software development company Swisscom decided to open its second DevOps center outside Switzerland in Riga, wrote Labs of Latvia.
  • The winner in Riga’s Employer of the Year nomination is Latvijas Mobilais telefons. It was selected in cooperation with the Employers’ Confederation of Latvia;
  • The award in the category Riga Entrepreneur of the Year in International Business Centres went to SEB Global Services Riga. The nominee in this category was selected together with the International Business Services Association of Latvia.

This year’s best companies in Riga were selected in cooperation with Latvian associations and industry organizations.

The aim of the entrepreneurs’ award is to highlight the achievements of successful companies in the capital and to honor those who have excelled in their sector this year, ensuring business development, promoting a high value-added economy, and developing international competitiveness. Riga’s most enterprising, innovative, and responsible entrepreneurs were honored with symbolic Riga thalers, as this historic currency is a symbol of the city’s pride, entrepreneurial spirit, and self-esteem.

The event Rīgas dālderis ’21 is organized by the Riga municipality agency Riga Investment and Tourism Agency. It was established in April this year with the aim of attracting foreign investment to the Latvian capital, promoting Riga’s international profile, and developing tourism.
