MGI launches its first Client Experience Centre for Europe and Africa in Riga

Latvia MGI Tech’s newly opened Customer Experience Centre will significantly expand the company’s ability to provide training in genomic sequencing technologies to customers and partners. Latvia MGI Tech plans to further develop the centre in Latvia over the next few years, to ensure the highest level of genetics technology production in Latvia.

The first Life Sciences and Technology Customer Experience Centre established by MGI in Central and Eastern Europe is being regularly expanded, this time with the launch of a new Customer Experience Centre section. Nearly 20 training programmes are planned to be held at Latvia MGI Tech facilities in the coming year to bring the latest MGI technologies to more scientists and MGI partners from Europe and Africa.

Cooperation with scientists and partners to be strengthened
“In line with MGI’s mission to develop and promote advanced life science tools for the future of healthcare, the new Customer Experience Centre will significantly strengthen collaboration with scientists and scientific partners, expanding knowledge of our sequencing and automation solutions while further developing relevant capabilities and expertise in Europe and Africa,” said Duncan Yu, president of MGI.

The Latvia MGI Tech Customer Experience Centre is equipped with the latest MGI product portfolio, including sequencers as well as automation platforms for DNA and RNA extraction and library construction. These technologies are applied in genome analysis and their development brings benefits in many aspects of life. For example, they are essential in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, allowing doctors to predict specific health risks early and to diagnose disease effectively to improve the course of treatment. These technologies are also used, for example, in cancer research, prevention, and early treatment.

“MGI has taken another big step to support customers and partners across the region and raise awareness and knowledge of our new products, such as the innovative HotMPS sequencing chemistry, recently developed specifically for DNBSEQ-G400 sequencers and first introduced in selected countries at the end of April,” said Dr Yong Hou, MGI’s general manager for Europe and Africa.

A major investment project

Latvia MGI Tech is a subsidiary of MGI Tech Co., Ltd. (MGI). MGI’s goal is to provide effective healthcare solutions that are accessible to the widest possible audience. Based on proprietary technology, MGI manufactures sequencing equipment, automated sample processing equipment, reagents and consumables used in scientific research, medicine, and healthcare. MGI’s multi-omics platforms include reagents, medical imaging, laboratory automation, and genetic sequencing.

In 2019, MGI opened a research, development, and manufacturing centre in Riga with the aim of creating a Sino-European hub for life sciences innovation, Labs of Latvia wrote. Latvia MGI Tech is an ambitious foreign investment project in the biotechnology sector in Latvia and the Baltics, with an investment volume of more than 15 million euros. MGI Latvia Tech acts as a research, development, manufacturing, logistics, and specialised training centre for MGI’s business development in Europe and other international regions. The 7,000 square metre complex includes a product demo centre, an engineering training centre and one of the most advanced sequencing centres in Europe.
