“Madara Cosmetics” received WIPO Trophy

Cosmetics manufacturer JSC “Madara Cosmetics” has received the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) award “Intellectual Property Enterprise Trophy”.

The WIPO Trophy is given to the company for its knowledge-based business and the use of intellectual property to implement an innovative commercial strategy, as well as internationally recognized natural and organic skin care products and cosmetics produced with care and environmental responsibility.

“Receiving the WIPO award is a major achievement for our scientists and companies worldwide, because not every idea can gain worldwide recognition,” said Sandris Laganovskis, Director of the Patent Office, explaining that selecting winners is a long process, during which a careful selection of suitable candidates is done, which are later evaluated according to specific criteria.

The WIPO Intellectual Property Enterprise Trophy is designed to recognize institutions and businesses, including small and medium-sized enterprises, that make creative use of the intellectual property rights system and have raised awareness of the benefits of intellectual property through their work. The target audience of this award is not only small and medium-sized enterprises, but also sole proprietors, business corporations, research and academic institutions.

“Madara Cosmetics” is the eighth company in Latvia to receive the WIPO award. Previously the award has been received by such companies - in 2015 Ltd. “Primekss”, in 2017 Ltd. “Latima”, in 2018 JSC “Latvijas Finieris”, in 2019 Ltd “Mikrotīkls”, but the first company to receive the trophy was in 2007 JSC "Amber".
