Information relevant regarding the war in Ukraine

A press conference is planned on 1 March 15:00 to inform on the sanctions being imposed on Russia following the invasion of Ukraine. This is organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and FCMC. 

This Financial Intelligence Unit of Latvia website has information concerning sanctioned entities, lists of natural and legal persons or other identifiable entities with both international and national sanctions against them.

Companies are being asked to give information on what help they can offer to Ukrainians. Donating goods such as medical supply, non-perishable food, fuel are extremely important. Companies can also give information on what vacancies/ work opportunities can be offered to Ukrainian refugees.

Ukrainians coming to Latvia – a web page has been set up with information useful to Ukrainians coming to Latvia, asylum and residence permits, accommodation and so on.

Latvian State will provide Ukrainian citizens fleeing military conflict with accommodation, food and other relevant assistance. In order to stay and work in Latvia, Ukrainian citizens will be granted long–term visas in relation to the right to employment in Latvia.

The Latvian investment and development agency has a phone number active where they will consult businesses regarding problem-situations while doing business in Russia, Belarus or Ukraine. The number is +371 68803505 (it is active from Mon to Fri  8:30-17:00)

Individual persons or companies can also provide information on how they could help Ukrainian refugees (ether by providing shelter, food, clothes, medical assistance etc.) You can fill out a survey notifying this organisation on what help you may offer.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Latvia will be hosting a discussion “Ukraine-Russia crisis: geopolitical and economic impact” 3 March 15:00. FICIL members can participate in this event free of charge.
