LIAA contributes to the EY Attractiveness Survey

In case you are wondering if the Baltics are a slice of Europe in terms of investment trends - the latest Attractiveness Survey Europe and The Baltic Attractiveness Survey report by Ernst & Young (EY) shows that the Baltics is a sea of talent and potential! 

Although last year Latvia attracted 32 new direct foreign investment projects, which is by 25 percent fewer than in 2020, more new jobs were created in these projects -2,662 than the year before.

In terms of investment projects, 17% of investors are interested in expanding R&D projects in Latvia. In comparison, only 3% in Estonia and none in Lithuania are interested in R&D, showing in which direction Latvia is heading.

In fact - 96% of Latvian investors are extremely positive about the performance of their cleantech and sustainability business ecosystem and think that it’s better than Europe’s overall. About 66% of the investors are ready to make first-time investments or willing to invest more. This is significantly above the European average at 53% and tops Lithuania at 60% and Estonia at 53%.
